Step-by-Step Skincare Routine for Dry Skin For Morning & Night

We all desire  glowing skin, reflecting our inner beauty and health, enabling us to radiate confidence and make favourable impressions. However, the harsh climatic conditions coupled with dust and pollution can make the most luminous skin textures dry and dull. I too have had my share of struggles to keep my dry skin look healthy. Nevertheless, with time I have put together a regime that makes my skin feel supple and dewy. So with no further adieu, let me share my daily skincare routine for dry skin.

6 Steps for Morning Skin Care Routine For Dry Skin

For dry skin select products that will deeply hydrate your skin, making it feel soft, smooth and beautifully balanced. Let us take a look at a simple yet effective morning skincare routine that will help you combat dryness.

Step 1: Cleansing: Choose a mild natural face cleanser that will remove impurities without drying out your skin. Avoid products with strong fragrances or harsh chemicals. 

Step 2: Toner: Evenly apply toner on your face and neck area. Choose hydrating face toners with ingredients such as aloe vera or rose water.

Step 3: Serum: Use a pump or dropper to apply serum on your face, followed by gently pressing it with your fingertips. Avoid messaging or rubbing it. Choose serums with ingredients such as ceramides, glycerine, Vitamin C and E as they provide intense hydration.

Step 4: Moisturize:  Apply an even layer of moisturizer to your face and neck area. Choose products that are rich in moringa seed oil, jojoba oil or shea butter.

Step 5: Sunscreen: Applying a layer of sunscreen is the final step of any robust morning dry skincare routine, no matter if you are indoors or outdoors. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen of 30 SPF or above. 

Step 6: Lip balm: Apply a thin layer of lip balm, to lock in the moisture and avoid dryness or scaling of lips.

6 Steps for Night Skin Care Routine For Dry Skin

By the time it is night, my skin has gone through a lot and deserves some TLC (Tender loving care). So, let me share my night skincare routine that focuses on restoring and replenishing my skin’s moisture. So, let us dive right in:

Step 1: Cleansing: Choose a gentle oil-based makeup remover to remove all impurities, followed by thoroughly cleansing your face with a water-based ayurvedic face cleanser.

Step 2: Toner: Gently pat and dampen your skin with a hydrating ayurvedic toner, which helps add moisture to your skin.

Step 3: Serum: Apply a few drops of rosehip hyaluronic serum on your face and gently press it, allowing it to deeply penetrate and moisturize your skin. 

Step 4: Eye Cream: Choose a hydrating eye gel and gently apply it to combat dryness, fine lines or dark circles.

Step 5: Moisturize: Now apply a thin layer of rich creamy natural night face cream to seal the moisture, and allow the skin to restore itself overnight for a glowing texture the following morning.

Step 6: Lip balm: Remember to hydrate your lips, apply a thin layer of moisturising lip balm.

There you have it, this is my daily night skincare routine for dry skin. I also exfoliate my skin twice a week and use a hydrating mask once a week. This helps to repair and deeply nourish my dry skin.  

Avoid These Common Mistakes in Your Dry Skin Care Routine

Over time I have come to realise the mistakes that I have made, which have left my skin irritable, flaky and dry. Let me list a few of them:

  1. Over-exfoliating: I would exfoliate my skin very frequently and use harsh scrubs or products, which further made my skin dry.
  2. Not using a lip balm: I underestimated the importance of moisturising my lips. Once I introduced this to my daily routine, it helped reduce pigmentation and deeply nourished my lips.
  3. Long Hot Showers: There is nothing more soothing than a hot shower in the evening to drain your worries away, but soon I realised its flip side, it was stripping my skin of its natural oils. Now I prefer lukewarm or cool showers.
  4. Consistency is the key: For any skincare routine to work, consistency is the key. Along with this, it is essential to eat a healthy diet, drink enough water to hydrate your skin, exercise regularly and get the much-needed beauty sleep for the skin to retain its radiant glow.
